Within the XIV Annual Symposium of Prosecutors, aiming to increase awareness of relevant professionals related to children’s vulnerabilities to trafficking and respect of rights of child trafficking victims, joint European Union/Council of Europe action “Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ implemented the training for legal professionals on child trafficking.

Thirty professionals enhanced their capacities to detect, identify, investigate, prosecute, and convict trafficking cases and protect the rights of victims in accordance with the standards of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings.

Beside presentation of the research on Phenomenon of child trafficking in Bosnia and Herzegovina, commissioned within this joint action as a follow up to recommendation by the Council of Europe Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA), participants discussed trafficking in human beings in digital environment, criminal justice system response to trafficking in human beings, child trafficking as a form of gender-based violence, and hearing of children victims of exploitation and trafficking.

The action "Preventing and combating trafficking in human beings in Bosnia and Herzegovina" is implemented within the joint programme of the European Union/Council of Europe "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022", with the aim of improving responses to combating trafficking in human beings and victim protection measures, mainly through capacity building and awareness raising of key anti-trafficking actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
