Brief description of the practice: This guide provides guidelines to incorporate a gender mainstreaming approach into local sports management, addressing five areas: local sports policy and management; sport offered by local governments; sport offered by sport organisations; sport offered by school sport; sport facilities and equipment. It also provides strategies for implementing measures and practical examples for incorporating gender mainstreaming into planning, funding and developing the local legal framework. Additionally, it provides examples of affirmative actions on this topic, and stresses the importance of citizens’ participation, and awareness raising and education.
