Brief description of the practice: 

The agenda of the women’s general assembly determines that the vice president of the “Women and Equal Opportunities” department within the DOSB is simultaneously the president of the women’s general assembly and the spokeswoman. She or he works according to the DOSB statute, the agenda of the women’s general assembly, as well as the resolutions of the latter and develops guidelines for the collaborative efforts towards equality in sports. The women’s general assembly represents the interests, wishes and intentions of the spokeswoman and the member organisations which contribute to their work. Further, the women’s general assembly promotes the thorough communication and exchange of information between the member organisations and the DOSB. It supports the vice president of the “Women and Equal Opportunities” department in the execution of the necessary projects concerning specifically the advancement of women and gender mainstreaming in the DOSB and its member organisations. Together they stand for gender mainstreaming and the equal participation of men and women in organised sports.

An important component of the strategy mentioned above is the resolution of the women’s quota. In December 2014 the DOSB anchored the gender quota in its statute. In future in all committees of the DOSB at least 30% have to be represented by both men and women. In the case of single elections, for instance the election of members of the DOSB chairmanship, a target quota applies.

In 2016 women’s general assembly of DOSB passed the DOSB-Strategy for Gender Equality 2016 until 2020. This strategy – addressed to the DOSB – determines four thematic priorities (with regard to the proposal for Strategic Actions 2014–2020, recommended by the EU-Commission/Sport).
