Two-Day Workshops for Prison Managers and Psychologists in Kyiv

Two parallel workshops for prison managers and psychologists were conducted on 22-23 September 2016 in Kyiv.

The workshop on prison management for pilot prisons’ staff was aimed at developing prison staff awareness and competences such as dynamic security, incentivised regimes, and integrated sentence management. Interactive group exercises for the prison staff kept the audience interested and engaged.

The workshop on social and life skills dealt with such issues as understanding the main problems the prisoners are facing on release and the importance of social and life skills to solve them. This session advocated the group work methodology which can equally be employed by prison social workers and by frontline staff.

Due to the fact that the Project will continue to support these themed trainings in the nearest future, both groups received “home tasks” to be accomplished for presentations during the following training sessions.

This activity was organized in the framework of implementation of the EU/CoE Joint Project “Further Support for Penitentiary Reform in Ukraine 2015-2017”, which is funded through the CoE/EU Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
