Training on how to investigate allegations of ill-treatment

Training courses on the fight against ill-treatment for two groups of prosecutors led by national and international experts were held on 26-27 and 29-30 November in Tbilisi.

The aim of the training was to familiarise around 40 participants with the most recent case-law of the European Court of Human Rights and modern investigation techniques applied by law enforcement agencies.

Prosecutors overviewed necessary investigative steps to ensure thorough investigations into the allegations of ill-treatment, the standards and best practices. The training included interactive exercises analysing practical cases relevant to the current legal framework in Georgia.

The training courses were organised in the framework of EU/CoE joint project “Strengthening the Application of the European Convention on Human Rights in Georgia”, within the European Union and Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance for Eastern Partnership countries.
