Training on Convention on Human Rights standards on witness interrogation and fair trial standards for Georgia common court staff

On 29-30 April, 2017 Council of Europe, within the EU funded project, organised a training on European Convention on Human Rights standards on witness interrogation and fair trial standards for judge assistants of the common courts of Georgia.

As a result of the training judge assistants advanced their knowledge on such topics as Access to a lawyer during interrogation and the prohibition on ill-treatment, standards governing the admissibility of evidence, hearsay and preliminary statements by absent witnesses and the right to summon witnesses.

The training took place under the EU/CoE Joint Project "Application of the European Convention of Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European Standards", which is funded through the EU-CoE Programme “Partnership for Good Governance”.
