Training on discrimination on grounds of gender for judges and prosecuters

On 27 and 28 October 2016, two training courses for judges and prosecutors of Moldova on discrimination on grounds of gender through the European Convention of Human Rights and national legislation were held in Chisinau. The activities were organised within the framework of the project “Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova”, in co-operation with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

The training courses were delivered by the Council of Europe’s consultants - Ms Ivana Roagna and Ms Olesea Perean.

The aim of the training courses was to  familiarise the participants with the concept and forms of gender discrimination, the protected grounds under the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, and the Moldovan Law on ensuring equality. Also, the participants got familiarised with the casework of the Council for Preventing and Eliminating Discrimination and Ensuring Equality of Moldova, presented by it’s representative Ms Olga Bulmaga. A special session was dedicated to analyse and discuss several case studies from the perspective of gender discrimination.
