Training on Access to Information for press and media officers of the state authorities in Baku

A one-day training on Access to Information for press and media officers of the state authorities within the PCF Project on Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom in Azerbaijan took place on 25 November 2016 in Baku.  The training was organized in close cooperation with the Ombudsman Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The main aim of the training was to raise awareness on CoE and ECHR standards on access to information among the press and media officers of the state authorities and to give the floor to open discussions. International and local experts made presentations on Council of Europe and European Court of Human Rights standards on the right to information as well as on access to information in Azerbaijani legislation.  About  30 representatives of the state authorities, including Milli Majlis, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Communications and High Technologies participated in the training and took an active part in case-study sessions and discussions.
