Training of Trainers on Right to Private life and Protection of Data

On 27-28 June 2017 the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (EU) organised a two-day training of trainers (ToT) for lawyers on Right to Private life and Protection of Data.

The training programme was developed based on existing course on Data Protection available at HELP Platform. The aim of the activity was to develop internal training resources of experts for the Georgian Bar Association and increase awareness of Georgian lawyers on Right to Private Life and Data Protection.

The course guided participants through main legal instruments, showed them the most important problems and human rights standards that may help them to address challenges related to privacy rights and data protection in their daily work. During the rest of the year number of cascade trainings will be organised within the project.

The activity was organised in the framework of the EU – CoE joint project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in line with European standards in Georgia”, implemented under the EU-CoE Programme Partnership for Good Governance.
