Training of Senior Management of Adjara Public Service Broadcaster

Within the EU/CoE Joint Project “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Adjara TV Public Service Broadcaster held two day training for Top Management of Adjara TV station. The training took place on 14-15 February 2017 at hotel “Royal Batoni”, Kakheti Region.

During the event the representatives of the regional public service broadcaster become familiar with the ECHR standards related to the status of the Public service broadcaster and reviewed the leading cases concerning the public media. The importance of the investigative journalism as well as the ethical standards of media reporting and the journalistic techniques for conducting the investigation was widely discussed during the training. Finally, the members of the Adjara TV station outlined the major shortcomings existing at their station and discussed the relevant measures for addressing those challenges in the nearest future.

The event was organised within the framework of the joint CoE/EU Program “EU/CoE Joint Project Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media”. The project was launched in January 2015 and aims to improve freedom, independence, pluralism and diversity of media, to review media legislation and regulation to bring these in line with European standards, including ethical standards for media professionalism as well as to support the implementation of legal frameworks, including remedial actions and to promote the safety of journalists.
