Training delivery on human rights for legal professionals

Training centers operating in the field of criminal justice are looking for new ways of advancing training delivery on human rights for legal professionals.

Within EU funded project on: "Application of the European Convention of Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European Standards" the Council of Europe has organized a workshop on Importance of unified approach on human rights trainings for legal professionals on 21 February 2017. The workshop has been organized in cooperation with the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and with the involvement of international consultant. Representatives of training centers operating in Georgia in the field of criminal justice had a possibility to discuss importance of distance learning methods, HELP e-learning platform and Council of Europe’s policy on teaching human rights. In particular HELP Guidebook on Human Rights Training Methodology for Legal Professionals was introduced to wide public as a comprehensive source for the training delivery. Moreover, participants had an opportunity to share best experiences, plan joint projects and improve coordination. During the course of 2017 HELP Guidebook on Human Rights Training Methodology for Legal Professionals will be translated into Georgian that will contribute to the quality of trainings on human rights.

The event took place under the EU/CoE Joint Project "Application of the European Convention of Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European Standards", which is funded through the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
