Support to the Moldovan Bar Association: strengthened lawyers associations

On 19 November the "Support to the Moldovan Bar Association" component of the PCF Project on Strengthening the efficiency of justice and support to lawyers’ profession in the Republic of Moldova, organised in Chisinau two bilateral meetings between the Moldovan Women Lawyers Association and the European Women Lawyers Association; and the Moldovan Young Lawyers Association and the European Young Bar Association.

As a result of the meeting with Ms. Daniela Raquel Alves Valdez, the President of the European Young Bar Association, the representatives of the Moldovan Young Lawyers Association prepared a road map to advance their participation in the European network of Young Bars and thus bring home good practices of lawyers self-administration. Further information is available on the Moldovan Bar Association site.

As a result of the meeting with Mrs. Dace L. Luters-Thümmel, member of the Board of the European Women Lawyers Association, the representatives of the Moldovan Women Lawyers Association identified the areas of mutually advantageous cooperation and networking opportunities to benefit women lawyers and, in general, the women in vulnerable situations in the Republic of Moldova.

The networking and planned accession of both Moldovan lawyers associations to the respective European Associations will enable activities supported by the Project to continue after its completion for the sustainability of the action.

The component on the "Support to the Moldovan Bar Association" of the "Strengthening the efficiency of justice and support to lawyers' profession in the Republic of Moldova" project is funded by the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. The Council of Europe and European Union are working in partnership with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus to help them meet Council of Europe benchmarks in human rights, democracy and the rule of law and improve the lives of citizens.
