Staff of the Supreme Court of Georgia has better understanding of Anti- Discrimination Standards

On 11-12 February, 2017 Council of Europe, within the EU funded project, organized two-day training on Elimination of Discrimination based on European Standards for Supreme Court Judge Assistants. Training was delivered by national and international experts with the purpose to advance skills and knowledge of Supreme Court staff on European anti-discrimination standards as well as national legislation and existing practice in the country.

As a result of the training up to 30 staff members of the Supreme Court of Georgia increased knowledge on Anti-discrimination framework of ECHR and other CoE and EU mechanisms. Participants had an opportunity to discuss topics such as: Investigating cases of discrimination, National case-law on elimination of all forms of discrimination, Discrimination based on sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status.

The Training took place under the EU/CoE Joint Project "Application of the European Convention of Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European Standards", which is funded through the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
