Roundtables on local finance benchmark and inter-municipal cooperation in Moldova
The Local Finance Benchmarking project has been completed in Moldova under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework programme “Strengthening Institutional Frameworks for Local Governance”. The fieldwork results were discussed at the roundtable organised on 29 June 2016 in Chisinau.

The LFB survey was implemented in five towns and five villages. According to LFB toolkit results in these ten pilot municipalities, local governments do well - have the highest average scores - in capital investment financing, budgeting methods and planning procedures. The areas of improvement with lowest scores were in organising capacity development for local staff, use of IT, public involvement in fiscal decisions and local property management. Following the project implementation overview, the local experts presented the LFB toolkit adaptation process, the main findings of the local surveys in the ten pilots and some general lessons on the piloting results. The LFB project will be continued in cooperation with CALM, the local government association.
