Media reporting on minority groups in Georgia

On 19-20 December 2016 the Council of Europe and European Union will hold a conference about “Media Reporting on Minority Groups”. The conference is organised within the framework of PCF CoE/EU joint program “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media”.

The conference on media reporting will be held with the participation of the representatives of Georgian media outlets including the public, private and community media to discuss the current challenges facing the Georgian media while reporting on minority groups. In addition, the participants will examine the status including the financial, administrative and management resources of the local outlets who are reporting on minority languages or operating in the minority populated areas.

Finally, together with the leading experts the participants will review some particular cases to identify the problematic issues and to specify the relevant measures for fostering the CoE and ECHR standards with the aim to ensuring the better media reporting on minority groups.
