MEDIA ADVISORY: presentation of mid-term results of Ukraine projects

On Wednesday, 26 October, the Council of Europe and the European Union will present to media in Kyiv mid-term results of their projects for Eastern Partnership countries, including Ukraine.

The five country-specific projects carried out in Ukraine under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework in 2015-2017, focus on strengthening human rights standards, penitentiary reform, freedom of media, fighting corruption, and supporting free and fair elections. The total budget of these projects is 3.9 million Euros. The projects are funded by the EU and the Council of Europe, and are implemented by the Council of Europe.

In addition to these country-specific projects, Ukraine also participates in 14 regional initiatives covering all Eastern Partnership countries.

Verena Taylor, Director of the Office of the Directorate General of Programmes, Council of Europe; Marten Ehnberg, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine;  Martin Klaucke, Head of Section "Good Governance and Rule of Law", European Union Delegation to Ukraine, Roman Andarak, Programmatic Co-operation Framework National Coordinator, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,  and Arkadi Sytine, Coordinator of the Programmatic Co-operation Framework for the Council of Europe  will present the projects and reply to questions from media representatives.

Journalists are invited to the presentation that will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 local time on Wednesday, 26 October 2016, at the Opera Hotel, 53 B. Khmelnitskogo Street, Kyiv, Ukraine, 01054. Language regime: English – Ukrainian (simultaneous interpretation).
