Five-day workshop on non-discrimination best practices

More than 100 participants, gathered from all districts of the Republic of Moldova have been trained on how to combat discrimination in Moldova (27-31 March 2017). The workshop was divided into specific training courses covering five different target groups focused on European non-discrimination best practices to support the national alignment with the European Court of Human Rights and European Social Charter legal standards.

The event was attended by 25 representatives of the State Chancellery from the districts of local Councils, 39 managers of Kindergartens from Chisinau and country’s districts, 28 head of Departments of the local health-care centers/hospitals from the country’s districts, 30 students graduating the Police and Military Academies and 10 journalists from Chisinau and country’s districts.

The aim of the training courses was to familiarise the participants with international and European non-discrimination standards, including the European Convention on Human Rights, the revised European Social Charter and European Union standards, etc. A special session was dedicated to the national context of non-discrimination issues which included legal practices and case scenarios.

The workshop was organised in the framework of the project “Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova” in co-operation with the Council for Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality of the Republic of Moldova.

The project “Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova” is part of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus and is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
