EaP cybercrime units attend Europol-INTERPOL Conference

The latest information on cybercrime threats and trends, as well as the practical aspects of recent cybercrime cases, were discussed at the 3rd Europol-INTERPOL Cybercrime Conference (September 30 – October 2 2015) held in the Hague. Experts in cybercrime from Eastern Partnership countries attended the conference which brought together representatives from 66 countries and more than 350 cyberspecialists from law enforcement, private sector, academia and international organizations in view of enhancing cooperation on cybercrime. 

Strengthening prevention, information exchange and capacity building in the face of the growing professionalization of cybercrime were key areas of discussion at the conference.The twelve 24/7 contact points for cybercrime from Eastern Partnership countries were funded under a joint EU/COE project to attend the conference. They established new contacts, joined discussions and shared best practices.

The joint project of the EU and the Council of Europe aims to improve international cooperation on cybercrime in the Eastern Partnership Region (Cybercrime@EAP II). The Cybercrime@EAP II project is implemented by the Council of Europe’s Cybercrime Programme Office (C-PROC) in Romania.
