The Roundtable on the assessment of the Development Strategy and Action Plan of the Council for Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality of the Republic of Moldova was organised on 2 June 2016 in Chisinau.  

The objective of the event was to present and discuss the assessment conducted within the framework of the Joint EU/CoE project “Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova”.

The assessment provides a number of suggestions aimed at improving the existing strategic documents, such as: giving particular attention to the methodology the Council develops for the review of legislation and policy, provision of support for claimants to take cases effectively to the Council and to the Courts, developing internal guidelines to ensure recommendations made both to restore the rights of the claimant and prevent a recurrence of the discrimination by the respondent, establishing an advisory council with representatives from key civil society organisations, etc.

The assessment was conducted by the Council of Europe consultant Mr Niall Crowley.
