Training sessions for newly selected judge candidates

In co-operation with the Academy of Justice of Azerbaijan, in March 2017 the Council of Europe started the series of European Court of Human Rights training sessions for 126 judge candidates who are going through the preparatory training phase of the judicial selection process. The training courses will be led by the certified trainers of the 'Training of Trainers’ programme, who are continuously increasing their proficiency to deliver human rights trainings for legal professionals. As a result of the seminars to be held in March-May 2017, the judge candidates will learn the basics of the European human rights standards and application of the European Court of Human Rights at a national level. The judicial candidates shall receive the European Court of Human Rights related publications and materials translated into Azerbaijani and published within the project.

The activity is organized within the framework of the project ‘Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Azerbaijan’ which is a part of the Programmatic Co-operation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
