Council of Europe and European Union to organise Bench and Bar meeting on Jury Trials for legal professionals in Georgia

On 22 March, 2017 The Council of Europe office in Georgia and EU4Justice Judiciary Support Project will organise a Bench & Bar Meeting on Jury Trials. The event will take place within the joint project of the Council of Europe and European Union – “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in Georgia in line with European Standards” which is the part of the Eastern partnership Programmatic Co-operation Framework 2015-2017 and under the EU4Justice - Judiciary Support Project, implemented by “Hulla & Co. Human Dynamic KG”. 

Mr. Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia; Mr. Peter Danis, Attaché, Justice Programme Manager, Delegation of the European Union to Georgia; Judge Levan Tevzadze, member of the High Council of Justice; Mr. Giorgi Gogadze, Deputy of Chief Prosecutor of Georgia and Mr. Davit Asatiani, Member of Executive Board of the Georgian Bar Association - will address the invited audience at the opening session and reply to questions.

The aim of the meeting is to give the floor to legal professionals to discuss current experience and challenges of the Jury Trials in Georgia and get international expertise from the perspective of the ECtHR Case Law.

 

The event will take place at 10:00 local time on Wednesday, 22 March 2017, at Rooms Hotel Tbilisi, 14 Merab Kostava Street, and language regime: English – Georgian.
