Training course on Article 6 (Right to a fair trial) of the European Convention on Human Rights

On 28-29 June 2016, the Council of Europe organised,  in cooperation with the Academy of Justice and Collegium of Advocates of Azerbaijan, a training course in Lankaran, Azerbaijan, on Article 6 (Right to a fair trial) of the European Convention on Human Rights. The two-day course was delivered by future trainers of the Academy of Justice and involved 20 advocates from Lankaran, Masalli, Astara, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad and Salyan regions.

The training course was designed to familiarise the advocates with international fair trial standards and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The participants expressed the importance of the training as it gave them an opportunity to share and discuss fair trial rights related issues they face in their practice.  

The course was organised in the framework of the project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Azerbaijan” that is part of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus and is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
