Human rights on and offline in Moldova

Forty judges, prosecutors and cadidate judges of the Republic of Moldova have followed a training course to further increase skills and knowledge on the European Court of Human Rights case law and Council of Europe standards on human rights protection on the internet and rule of law in the digital world.

The training was organised by the Council of Europe in partnership with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova on 22-23 February in Chisinau.

The training course was led by a group of the Council of Europe and national experts covering topics such as Council of Europe standards, in particular the Guide to human rights for Internet users, and European Court of Human Rights case law on:

  • human rights and the internet
  • data protection and privacy online
  • freedom of expression and information online
  • cyber security and its relation to human rights.

The event took place within the framework of the joint Council of Europe and European Union project “Strengthening the Respect for Human Rights in the Implementation of the Republic of Moldova’s Digital Agenda”.

The total budget of the project is of € 400,000, with the European Union providing a financial support of 90% and the Council of Europe co-financing in the amount of 10%.
