The Superior Council of Magistrates of the Republic of Moldova heard a presentation during its session of 28 February 2017 of the progress and achievements of the Project "Strengthening the efficiency of justice and support to lawyer’s profession in the Republic of Moldova", . The Superior Council of Magistrates appreciated the results of the project and, more generally, the cooperation with European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ). It was acknowledged that refining court management and the efficiency of the judicial system is one of the priorities of the Superior Council of Magistrates, along with such objectives as improving the professionalism and quality of judicial decisions. Implementing CEPEJ tools on the basis of continuous support from the CEPEJ is an opportunity to achieve these objectives. The Council unanimously supported a follow-up to the current project to disseminate the lessons learned and good practices achieved by the pilot courts throughout the entire national court system.

A detailed account on the implementation of the project and possible future steps will be discussed between the team of CEPEJ experts and national judicial stakeholders on 21-22 March 2017, during the Conference “Improving the efficiency and quality of justice through implementation of CEPEJ tools by courts and the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova” and the final meeting of the project’s Steering Committee.

This project is part of the CoE/EU Eastern Partnership Programmatic Cooperation Framework 2015-2017, financed by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
