Training of prison psychologists

Training for fifteen prison psychologists, including eight women, from eleven penitentiary institutions in Armenia was held from 21 to 24 June 2017 in Yerevan, in cooperation with the RA Ministry of Justice and the Association of Psychoanalysts of Armenia.

The aim of the training was to familiarise prison psychologists with modern psychological working methodologies to be applied in Armenian penitentiary institutions. Five trainers (psychologists and psychoanalysts) presented both theoretic and practical aspects and used group work and experience sharing with focus on the following topics: primary consultations, modern psychological group work (psychodrama), personal disorders according to ICD 10, self-regulation of emotional state and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The training was organised within the Project on “Strengthening healthcare and human rights protection in prisons in Armenia”, funded under the Partnership of the European Union and the Council of Europe for Good Governance in the Eastern Partnership Countries.
