Workshop on investigation and prosecution of legal entities and asset recovery
Thirty-five prosecutors, investigators, financial analysts and auditors from relevant bodies attended a two-day workshop on Investigation and Prosecution of Legal Entities and Asset Recovery on 19-20 November 2015, in Baku. During the first day of the Workshop, trainers and participants discussed legal and practical aspects of criminal liability of legal entities, its status in Azerbaijan, and strategies and tools, good practices and challenges for investigating and prosecuting corporate criminal activity. The second day of the training was dedicated to consideration of tools available for tracing and recovering criminal assets, civil forfeiture regimes, and group work on hypothetical cases. The training was organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the Anti-Corruption Directorate with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as part of training programme aimed at strengthening the capacities of criminal justice and law enforcement authorities. In 2016 the Council of Europe will develop a series of specific trainings and teaching materials for criminal justice and law enforcement practitioners in Azerbaijan, pursuant to identified needs.
