On 11-12 May 2016 a study visit of Azerbaijani journalists was organised in Strasbourg within the framework of the joint CoE/EU PCF Project “Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom” in Azerbaijan. The main aim of the study visit was to raise awareness on ECHR and Council of Europe standards related to freedom of expression and media freedom among Azerbaijani journalists and media professionals. The fifteen participants became acquainted with CoE and ECHR’s work in the field of freedom of expression and were given an in-depth insight into the CoE’s Platform for the Protection of Journalism and the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights as supervised by the Committee of Ministers. They also had an overview of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights’ case-law with regard to Azerbaijan.
