Thirty judges and prosecutors will follow a training course to further increase skills and knowledge on the European Court of Human Rights case law and Council of Europe standards on human rights protection on the internet and rule of law in the digital world, on 22-23 February in Chisinau.

The training will be conducted jointly by a group of the Council of Europe and national experts and there will be sessions covering topics such as Council of Europe standards and European Court of Human Rights case law on:

  • human rights and the internet
  • the rule of law in the digital world
  • data protection and privacy online
  • freedom of expression and information online
  • cyber security and its relation to human rights

This activity takes place within the framework of the joint Council of Europe and European Union project “Strengthening the Respect for Human Rights in the Implementation of the Republic of Moldova’s Digital Agenda”, it is organised by the Council of Europe in partnership with the National Institute of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

This project is organised in accordance with the priorities of the Republic of Moldova in the field on information society, under the Council of Europe Action Plan to support democratic reforms in the Republic of Moldova for the period 2013-2016 and the National Action Plan for the period 2014-2016 adopted to implement the Association Agreement between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Moldova, of the other part.
