Cascade training seminar for judges

23 judges of courts of first instance and Baku Appeal Court were trained on Article 8 (Right to respect for private and family life) of the European Convention on Human Rights during a two-day cascade training seminar held in Baku on 28-29 April 2016. The training was led by an international expert and two future trainers of the Academy of Justice of Azerbaijan and aimed at ensuring appropriate implementation of the ECHR by judges at national level. As a result of the training the participants increased their knowledge on standards and guarantees prescribed in Article 8 and relevant case law of the ECtHR, as well as the future trainers of the Academy of Justice strengthened their competence to deliver human rights training.

The activity was organised in the framework of the project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights in Azerbaijan” that is part of the Programmatic Cooperation Framework for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus and is funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
