First coordination meeting
Travel pass to democracy: supporting teachers for active citizenship

The partner countries – Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro and Romania - implementing the pilot project "Travel Pass to Democracy: Supporting Teachers in preparing students for active citizenship" met in Dubrovnik from 30 July to 2 August to discuss in detail the topics they expected to be addressed and the outputs to be produced in the framework of the project.

The partner countries agreed upon the outline of a booklet assessing the situation of EDC/HRE in the respective countries, identifying challenges which could be addressed through teacher training and change in attitudes, the programme of a common half day training module on "Respect of Human Dignity at School" which aims at encouraging teachers to adopt attitudes supporting citizenship and human rights and the outline of a documentary on "Democratic school climate" which intends to highlight the role of schools in the development of the personality and the attitudes of the students.

A very detailed work programme was set up, defining precisely the roles and responsibilities of each country. The booklet, the finalised training module and the trailer of the documentary are expected to be presented at the EDC/HRE Coordinators meeting on 14 and 15 November 2013 in Strasbourg.
