Discussion on the modalities of co-operation with Turkmenistan within the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme

On 5 May 2020 a co-ordination meeting between the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme and representatives of Turkmen authorities was organised online. Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan as well as representatives of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan and the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan participated in the meeting. The Programme's team presented its main actions, regional and national modalities, as well as activities of the Action "Promoting transparency and action against economic crime" that can be potentially implemented in Turkmenistan. The representatives of Turkmen authorities shared their perspective on the implementation of the Programme and marked several priority areas. These suggestions are being considered by the Programme team, while the parties agreed to continue discussions on concrete activities to be held in Turkmenistan.

Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 is a joint initiative co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe in five Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
