A two-day workshop for the staff of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on implementation of the European Court of Human Rights case-law

A two-day workshop from series of workshops for the staff of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on European Court of human rights case-law, organized with the support of the EU/CoE joint Project "Consolidation of Justice Sector Policy Development in Ukraine" and EU/CoE joint Project "Strengthening the Implementation of European Standards of Human Rights in Ukraine" took place on 7-8 April 2016. 

Articles 5 and 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights which define right to liberty and security and right to a fair trial were subject of the seminar. 

The presentations provided by Pavlo Pushkar, senior lawyer at the ECtHR, were combined with the practical assignments with accent on obligations of the state to take general measures to ensure the provisions of the ECHR and discussions of current issues on application of the ECtHR case-law during legislative work.

The workshop was attended by the staff of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada, representatives of the Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights and the Secretariat of the High Council of Justice.
