The Council of Europe HELP online course “Combating hate speech” in Azerbaijani is now available in its updated version for free. The translation and adaptation of the course for Azerbaijan was made with the support of the EU and the Council of Europe, as part of the Partnership for Good Governance.
This interactive training programme is designed to equip legal professionals, and anyone interested in identifying, preventing, and addressing hate speech effectively. Anchored in European human rights standards, including the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, the course offers practical guidance for fostering equality and promoting human rights-based counternarratives. By empowering individuals to tackle hate speech both online and offline, the course contributed to building more inclusive and respectful societies.
The updated course was launched during a one-day training session in Baku on equality and anti-discrimination, attended by civil society representatives, lawyers, and law students. Participants explored strategies to address the dangers posed by discrimination and hate speech, engaging in discussions on practical and effective solutions.
The Council of Europe HELP learning platform offers free access to this course and many others on human rights topics. Users can create an account in minutes to begin exploring a range of resources.
