On 13 August 2020 was carried out the second meeting of the Steering Group of the project “Support to further strengthening the efficiency and quality of the judicial system in the Republic of Moldova” ("CEPEJ Project"), which is part of the Partnership of the Council of Europe and the European Union for Good Governance in the Eastern Partnership Countries 2019-2021 (PGG II).
The meeting gathered representatives of the beneficiary and main partners and was dedicated to reporting on the progress in the implementation of the objectives related to improved efficiency and quality of courts and enforcement of court decisions. Updating the work plan was required mainly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants noted that amendments were proposed only to the timeline of the implementation of some activities without affecting their substance or number.
The actual or potential risks to the due course of the project’s implementation and the corresponding mitigation measures were also discussed and the updated work plan for the period of August-December 2020 was approved. The participants emphasised that certain activities of the work plan require an enhanced communication and dialogue among national stakeholders and agreed to apply further efforts in this respect, with the support of both the Council of Europe Office and the Delegation of the European Union in Moldova.
