“Child Safeguarding in Sport” (CSiS) was a European Union (EU) and Council of Europe (CoE) joint project (1 March 2020 - 30 June 2022). Its main aims were to guide and accompany European countries towards effective child safeguarding in sport policies, through the setting up of positions of Child Safeguarding Officers.

6 countries were partners to the project: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Israel, Norway and Portugal

The final workshop of the Pro Safe Sport+ project took place at the Council of Europe headquarter in Strasbourg on 24-25 October 2017.

It aimed at undertaking important steps to launch the production of the video-clip and the training kit, as well as finalising the other capacity building and awareness raising materials to foster the development of policies and strategic actions addressing sexual violence against children in sport.

This workshop hild in the framework of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the opening to signature of the Council of Europe Convention for the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. The PSS+ partners and experts had also the opportunity to exchange and to network with representatives from public authorities and NGOs dealing with children’s right.

The aim of CSiS was to strengthen the ability of European countries to prevent violence against children and to promote their well-being in sport, by developing effective policies that include recruiting, training, equipping and networking Child Safeguarding Officer roles.

“Start to Talk” is a Council of Europe call for action to public authorities and the sport movement to stop child sexual abuse.

This awareness-raising campaign, launched in 2017, is a follow-up to the two successful Pro Safe Sport projects (in 2014 and 2017) co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
