Training on Communication with Persons with Disabilities for prosecutors

On 20-22 June 2017 the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (UE) organised a three-day training for prosecutors on Communication with Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

The aim of the training was to improve prosecutors’ communication skills with people with disabilities and formulate the right attitude towards the subject. The participants had an opportunity to enhance their knowledge on such topics as European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) case-law on rights to PWD, status of PWD in the national legislature, participation of PWD in investigation procedures, types of disabilities and discrimination behaviour analysis.  The training course along with theoretical part was loaded with practical exercises.

The activity was organised in the framework of the EU – CoE joint project “Application of the European Convention on Human Rights and harmonisation of national legislation and judicial practice in line with European standards in Georgia”, implemented under the EU-CoE Programme Partnership for Good Governance.
